“Cas?” Wolfe frowned at the sound of her name spoken in such a familiar voice. She hadn’t actually got around to tell him she was in the neighborhood yet, and here he was. With warm smile she turned around, still working on pulling off her sweater; the tank top underneath riding up her abdomen. Tossing the garment on a chair, she walked over to the door ans stretched up to plant a chaste kiss on his lips. “Of course I did. come on in.”
“Yes, I would. I don’t know why half the things happen to me, or because of who either,” he answered honestly as he worked on getting some of the dried blood off her feathers. But there was fresh blood, so much of it. She would have to go lay down so he could tend to her wounds more thoroughly. “I’ll help you look.”
“Beautiful?” he asked softly, glad she was relaxing, but needing more slack to take care of those wings. The former angel didn’t understand why she would feel vulnerable or even embarrassed, nor did he know, so he just offered, “Why don’t you go lay down on your stomach and spread out your wings then?” In meantime, he went into the bathroom to collect some water and towels.
Directing all her attention to the fingers currently poking and prodding on her back, she barely registered him talking and uttered a non-committal ‘mmmh’. The tugging on the feathers as they were loosened from dried blood both stung and sent shivers down her spine at the same time.
A small whimper-like sound escaped her as he touched a particularly sore spot, the muscles in her back tensing up again.
Having not actually paid attention to him, but the sound of his voice, the movement from the male made Wolfe focus her full attention at him once more but he was almost halfway across the room by then. With a shrug she let the wings drop completely and moved over to the bed, laying down on her stomach in the middle of it, wings spread out to the sides.
No, that’s just me.
Shh, don’t. It’s awesome.
….
Ah, well then.
